Job Description:
The Senior Manager oversees the operations and strategic
direction of secsports.com and the SEC mobile app (in development),
ensuring both platforms deliver exceptional user experiences that
reflect the high standards of ESPN and the Southeastern Conference
(SEC). A key focus of the role is engaging SEC fans through the
official SEC website and mobile platforms, providing timely and
relevant content to foster community and brand loyalty. The Senior
Manager leads a team of full-time and part-time employees, setting
strategic goals, developing talent, and fostering a collaborative
work environment. This position also manages a flexible work
schedule to accommodate live events and seasonal demands, ensuring
operational excellence while promoting team well-being.Departmental
Summary:SEC Network's Digital Content team is committed to getting
the best SEC sports content to all sports fans, ANYTIME and
ANYWHERE. - From news, feature articles and event highlights to
studio analysis, second-screen experiences and comprehensive stats
and other historical information, SECSports.com and the SEC mobile
app will make all SEC fans feel connected to the content that makes
it so special.Responsibilities:
- Lead the day-to-day management of secsports.com and the SEC
mobile app, ensuring both platforms meet the brand and UX standards
expected by ESPN and the SEC partners.
- Drive the team toward meeting key goals, such as maintaining
high user engagement, seamless live coverage, and consistent
content quality across all digital touchpoints.
- Create and implement efficient workflows that support 24/7
content management and live event updates, with a focus on timely
and accurate delivery.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including marketing,
production, programming, communications, ad sales, and social
media, to align digital efforts with broader business
objectives.
- Manage a nontraditional, flexible work schedule to support peak
periods, such as game days and tournaments, without compromising
team well-being.
- Mentor and develop team members through coaching, performance
feedback, and professional development opportunities.
- Oversee vendor partnerships and third-party services to ensure
timely support for platform development, maintenance, and
analytics.
- Utilize data and analytics tools to monitor site performance,
identify trends, and continuously improve content strategies based
on user behavior.
- Ensure platform content reflects SEC's brand identity by
maintaining editorial standards, ensuring compliance with SEC and
ESPN guidelines, and enhancing fan engagement.
- Lead the development of innovative content initiatives (e.g.,
new features, fan interaction tools) to grow audience engagement
across digital platforms.
- Foster collaboration with the SEC office and external partners
to synchronize efforts and support shared goals.Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in digital media, content
management, or related fields.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex
digital platforms.
- Strong understanding of the college sports landscape,
particularly the SEC.
- Expertise in web and mobile user experience (UX) design
principles.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership
skills.
- Proven advocacy for diversity and inclusion to enhance business
goals and employment experiences.Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and analytics
tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics).
- Experience with SEO and social media integration to optimize
content reach.
- Knowledge of digital marketing campaigns and mobile app
development.Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business or a related
fieldPreferred Education:
