The CVOR Surg Tech works closely with the surgical team to prepare, maintain, and assist during cardiac and vascular operations.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n
• \nPreoperative Preparation:\n

  • Set up the cardiovascular operating room with specialized instruments, equipment, and supplies required for heart and vascular surgeries.\n
  • Verify the functionality of devices such as heart-lung machines, monitors, and catheters.\n
  • Ensure strict adherence to aseptic and sterile techniques to prepare the surgical environment.\n
  • Review the surgical schedule and patient-specific requirements to anticipate needs.\n\n\n
  • \nIntraoperative Support:\n
    • \n
    • Pass instruments, sutures, and devices to the surgeon promptly during cardiovascular procedures.\n
    • Assist with maintaining a sterile field and ensuring proper use of surgical drapes and barriers.\n
    • Handle and care for specialized cardiovascular equipment such as bypass machines, cannulas, and pacemakers.\n
    • Anticipate the surgeon's needs during complex procedures, such as open-heart surgery, valve replacements, or vascular bypasses.\n\n\n
    • \nPostoperative Duties:\n
      • \n
      • Clean and restock the CVOR, ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and stored.\n
      • Assist in transporting patients from the CVOR to recovery units.\n
      • Handle specimens and ensure proper labeling for laboratory analysis.\n
      • Maintain and troubleshoot cardiovascular equipment to ensure readiness for future use.\n\n\n
      • \nCollaboration and Teamwork:\n
        • \n
        • Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and perfusionists to ensure a seamless surgical workflow.\n
        • Participate in pre-surgical briefings and post-surgical debriefings.\n
        • Support training and mentoring of junior staff or surgical technologist students as needed.\n\n\n
        • \nSafety and Compliance:\n

          • Follow strict infection control and safety protocols to protect patients and staff.\n
          • Stay updated on advancements in cardiovascular surgical techniques and technology.\n
          • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.\n\n\n\n\nQualifications:\n

            • Education: Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent training.\n
            • Certifications:\n
