Job Title: Special Procedures Technologist Job Specialty: Interventional Radiology Technologist Job Duration: Permanent Shift: Various Shift Options Available (3x12 hour, 4x10, and 5x8) Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours per Week Experience: Minimum of 2 Years License: ARRT Certification Required Certifications: BLS (CPR); Advanced Registry from the ARRT in IR Within One Year of Hire Must-Have: Graduate of an Accredited Two-Year AMA and ARRT Approved Program in Radiologic Technology Job Description: - Perform specialized radiography and fluoroscopic coverage for interventional and angiographic procedures under a physician's direction. - Act as a scrub assistant, prep the patient for procedures, and administer contrast media under physician supervision. - Circulate during procedures, ensuring patient comfort and providing necessary supplies. - Record and process hemodynamic reports and send images to PACs. - Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the radiology suite and report equipment malfunctions. - Participate in scheduled call rotations and respond promptly to callbacks. - Stay informed about advancements in radiology through in-services and departmental meetings. - Assist during emergency procedures as required. - Help maintain compliance with JCAHO and QA requirements, and support departmental goals and team functions. - Authorized to obtain and participate in ordering and distributing medication and contrast materials. - Perform clerical duties, including scheduling patients, answering phones, and preparing paperwork. - Maintain accurate patient logs and records. - Ensure safety protocols for exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases are followed. - Adhere to HIPAA protocols when accessing patient medical records. - Use proper identifiers to ensure correct patient examinations. - Participate in the "time-out" process for procedure verification. - Must work collaboratively in a team and independently on tasks where necessary. - Competency required in at least 90% of Level I procedures for Level I technologists.
