This position involves the design and development of a wide range of roadway projects, from intersections and urban arterials to rural expressways and interstate interchanges. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and manage project components to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality infrastructure solutions. This position offers a **fully remote work option** for candidates residing in North Carolina, providing flexibility without compromising career advancement. **Key Responsibilities:** \- Lead the design and development of roadway infrastructure projects, including intersections, collector streets, urban arterials, rural expressways, and interchanges. \- Assist in managing project scopes, budgets, and schedules while ensuring the highest quality standards. \- Collaborate closely with Project Managers to maintain client relationships, develop project plans, and ensure timely completion of deliverables. \- Mentor and guide junior engineers and design/drafting staff, contributing to their professional growth. \- Prepare roadway designs using MicroStation, GeoPak, OpenRoads, and other industry-standard software. \- Coordinate with sub-consultants, clients, and permitting agencies to ensure all project objectives and regulatory requirements are met. \- Contribute to project documentation, including technical reports, cost estimates, and presentations for stakeholders. \- Remain flexible and adaptable, taking on various tasks as needed to meet project goals. **Skills and Qualifications:** \- Proven experience in roadway design, ideally within the NCDOT framework, including familiarity with NCDOT CAD standards and guidelines. \- Expertise in roadway design software such as MicroStation, GeoPak, and OpenRoads. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus. \- Strong understanding of FHWA Roadway Design Manual and NCDOT guidelines for highway design. \- Ability to work independently in a remote setting while collaborating effectively with team members across the firm. \- Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to manage timelines, budgets, and client relationships. \- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and foster strong client and team relationships. \- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat. \- Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and commitment to meeting deadlines. \- Detail-oriented team player who thrives in a collaborative environment. **Basic Requirements:** \- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. \- Minimum of 3-5 years of roadway design experience, with a focus on North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) projects preferred. \- Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of employment. **Benefits & Compensation:** \- Competitive salary range: **$80,000 - $150,000**, commensurate with experience. \- Comprehensive benefits package, including health, vision, dental, and life insurance, 401(k) retirement plan with employer match, and generous paid time off (PTO). \- Flexible work arrangements, including **fully remote work for candidates residing in North Carolina**. \- Employee ownership opportunities and professional development support.
